Aperitif Activities

At our Workshop weekend there is always a festive aperitif moment before the dinner… but can it be a bit more festive? That is why there are various activities during the aperitif for participants and teachers of the workshop weekend. But a choice from the activities below.
Please note
These aperitif activities are only for participants/teachers/volunteers of this Workshop weekend. No separate tickets can be ordered for these activities. We welcome visitors who have ordered a ticket for the Evening concerts/balls from 19:30.
Saturday aperitif:

- Lecture by René Meeuws – about the history of the Dutch Hurdy-Giurdy & Bagpipes Foundation (Stichting Draailier En Doedelzak). René is one of the founders of our organization and this Saturday he takes you back 40 years in time.
- Balfolk Dance workshop by Saskia Sportel – Saskia is an experienced dance teacher who taught at Balfolk Utrecht, CaDansa, Balfolk Dansstage… for anyone who is curious about how to dance balfolk dances such as the bourree, cercle, waltz, andro or scottish, Saskia gives a dance initiation. But to what music??
- Session for Music of the Dance Workshop by Rob Zantkuijl – A dance workshop needs musical accompaniment. Rob Zantkuijl will provide this, but being alone is just being alone… that is why he invites everyone to come and help him so that we can provide the dance workshop with music in a jam session style.
Sunday aperitif:

- Lunula (seated concert) – Lunula is a new trio of Adriana Borger (hurdy-gurdy), Hanna van Gorcum (nyckelharpa) and Meidi Goh (Viola de gamba). This new trio played their debut with a demo concert at our instrument tasting during Castlefest and that tasted like more. They play in workshop space AB.
- Ciona (bal) – Ciona is a polyphonic bagpipe duo by Anouk van Leeuwen and Wouter Koenders. The melody dances around the drones. They play on the square
- Tune Learning Session – Wouter Kuyper – On Saturday evening Lies Sommer & Wouter Kuyper will play the compositions they wrote especially for this anniversary, but how do you play them yourself? Wouter will take you along in one of these anniversary compositions and teach you during the aperitif on Sunday. This TLS is workshop space BC.
- Paas IJ-tjes zoeken/ Looking for Eater Eggs – The will be the Easter Sunday of course… traditionally we have to look for Easter eggs, but is that possible in St-Michielsgestel? In Dutch, you pronounce an ‘egg’ as “IJ” (and write it as “ei”). So we are really happy Brewery ‘t IJ offers a solution and we may look for “Easter IJ”…
Monday – at the end, after the courses
- Closing Orchestra – In the last hour of this Jubilee weekend we would like to play one last melody together with all teachers and participants. We sometimes end our workshop weekends this way and this is always a great way to play together one last time.
