During this workshop, I will offer you to learn some songs of my composition and covers from the repertoire that we play with the band Bargainatt. Songs to dance: waltz, Scottish, mazurka. Songs to be answered: Rond d’Argenton, Tricot, Ronde du Quercy.
We will combine the learning of these songs with body awareness exercises in order to develop and associate the sensations of the body and the voice. My friend Emma Cousteix will accompany us during this workshop to support group learning and bring her precious musical listening to our exchanges

Over Emma Cousteix

Emma is passionate about traditional music, which she plays with the banjo, singing, dancing and, more recently, the fiddle. She has been immersed in it since childhood in Auvergne, in the association Les Brayauds, a regional center for traditional music and dance. Thanks to the association and its dance houses, she has been quickly on stage to make dance with the group Phonème, which started in 2017.

Eager for knowledge and reflection on her practice and wishing to move towards the profession of musician, she joined the higher education program at the Pôle Aliénor in Poitiers after leaving high school, which prepares her to obtain the DNSPM (National Higher Diploma for professional of music) in traditional music. During her studies, she spent a semester in Estonia to learn the traditional music of the country. At the same time, she formed the dance group La Jaunée, which mixes repertoires from Berry and the Massif Central. She also multiplies different experiences of giving workshops of dance, banjo courses or leanding a week-long stay for young people around traditional music called Trad’ados. Since she got her diploma in June 2024, she starts a career as a professional musician with new projects in progress: the creation of a standing concert set based on traditional music with a trio, new dance groups and cultural action projects with Les Brayauds.
